Cosmetic Comparison · Wilmington, DE
Veneers vs. Bonding in Wilmington, DE. An Honest Side-by-Side Comparison.
Both bonding and porcelain veneers can repair chips, close small gaps and brighten your smile. The right choice depends on how many teeth you want to change, how long you want results to last and your budget. Here's how they compare at Wilmington Dental & Implants.
At a glance
- Bonding: composite resin sculpted directly on the tooth, usually in one visit, often without numbing. Lower cost. Can stain and chip over time.
- Porcelain veneers: thin custom shells bonded to the front of the teeth over two visits. Higher cost. Very stain resistant and long lasting.
- Composite veneers: a middle option, covering the whole front surface with composite.
When bonding makes sense
One or two small chips, a minor gap, or a quick fix before an event. Bonding is conservative, affordable and reversible. See dental bonding.
When veneers make sense
Several teeth with stains that won’t whiten, worn or uneven edges, or a full smile makeover. Porcelain gives the most natural, lasting result. See porcelain veneers and our veneer fee guide.
Consider Invisalign first
If teeth are crowded or rotated, straightening them with Invisalign first can mean fewer veneers, or none at all. Ask about our $1,000 Invisalign offer.

What Our Patients Say
“Wonderful staff, very kind and patient.”
“The staff are nice and professional and so are the dentist and hygienist. I thank them for being patient also, getting your mouth worked on is an experience, but everything was great.”
“The atmosphere inside was nice and calm, the staff was very welcoming, and the dentist took her time explaining everything to me without any rush. I came here for a second opinion.”
Frequently Asked Questions
Common Questions
Which lasts longer, bonding or veneers?+
Porcelain veneers generally last much longer than bonding, which may need touch-ups or replacement after several years.
Is bonding cheaper than veneers?+
Yes, bonding usually costs less per tooth. Our current standard fees are $937 per composite veneer and $2,213 per porcelain veneer; simple bonding repairs are often less.
Do veneers ruin your teeth?+
Porcelain veneers need a small amount of enamel shaping, which is permanent. We remove as little as possible and preview the plan with you first.
Can bonding be whitened?+
No. Composite doesn't respond to whitening, so we usually whiten first and then match bonding to your new shade.
Can I mix veneers and bonding?+
Yes. Some smiles use veneers on the most visible teeth and bonding on others. We'll design what fits your goals and budget.
